Natsumatsuri
(Summer festival):
As summer arrives, festivals are held at local shrines. Young
men and women wearing headbands and HAPPI coats carry MIKOSHI
on their shoulders, shouting “Wasshoi! Wasshoi!”
Bon
Festival: The Bon Festival is one of the biggest traditional
events to pray for the calmness of our ancestors’ souls. It is
the time for family members and relatives to get together. People
dress up in yukata, summer kimono, and go to the park or shrine
in neighborhood for the Bon dance that is held throughout Japan
during this season. |
